Rob Herriot - Remembered with gratitude for

Dear Friends of the Little Opera Company, It is with very heavy hearts that we share the sad news of the passing of our beloved colleague, Rob Herriot. Rob was an integral part of The Little Opera Company and of Winnipeg’s performing arts community—as a stage director, board member, and trusted confidant—offering his knowledge, skills, unique sense of humour, and remarkable talent to the enrichment of an art form he cherished deeply. Rob’s directing career reached far beyond Winnipeg. He worked with companies across Canada and the United States, bringing his thoughtful artistry to stages in Edmonton, Calgary, Kelowna, and numerous American regional opera houses. His work included many productions for Manitoba Opera and The Little Opera Company—most recently The House Without a Christmas Tree—and he was instrumental in shaping the vision of the all‑Canadian Così fan tutte, a production that saw multiple successful remounts. In February 2026, he made his Vancouver Opera debut directing Così fan tutte, offering a fresh and warmly received interpretation of Mozart’s beloved comedy. His contributions enriched audiences across North America and left a lasting imprint on the opera community. Words cannot adequately express the depth of our loss, nor the gratitude we feel for having had the privilege of knowing him and witnessing his artistry. On behalf of everyone at The Little Opera Company, past and present, we extend our deepest sympathy to Rob’s husband, Lars Treloar , and to Rob’s sisters— Barb Herriot-Miller , Nancy Militano , and Mary Deane —and their families. A Celebration of Life was held at Westworth United Church. 1750 Grosvenor Ave, Winnipeg at 11AM on July 13, 2026. The Celebration of Life was live-streamed on YouTube .
